With the VSTi/AU/RTAS musical instrument plug-in reigning supreme for some many years now, and the legends of analogue audio falling by the wayside decades ago (*cough* Roland *cough* Korg *cough* c'mon, you had the choice, but you still chose to try and make 'virtual analog = the new analogue' happen for the past 15 years), it's the boutique synthesizer designers who are paving the way for modern analogue animals.

And to compete with the warez market, they're doing so with such startling value.

I have a desktop evolver, and to be honest I'm still learning to use/program it. Sonically hectic, I totally love it, and it's a keeper. Just does shit none of my other kit can do and sounds awesome :(
