Our new host has a much more limited storage capacity then we have before, that was the tradeoff for a better , more reliable host.
So, file hosting will have to be scaled back, by that I mean It wont be open for everyone to host files on the SoundPunk server. (The new file manager hasn’t been released yet, im still working on it)
I was considering just restricting users based on post count, but that kind of sucks for new members who generally have something good to share.
There’s also advertisements, which no body really likes, but it’s a fact of life, and now this site costs more than my annual car insurance and rego to actually run per year
it needs to sustain its self somehow.
There is another option that I initially wasn’t too fond it, but iv been rethinking about it, so I think I might put it out there and get your opinions.
A donation system, via PayPal. Say for example, a donation of anything over $10 will buy you Ad Free SoundPunk for a year, along with file manager access , and bloggers account.
I don’t really like the idea of having “Premium Accounts”, that kind of force people into buying them, but I don’t mind the idea of an optional donation system.
Im sure we can think up some other benefits to give to people who donate, so im open to suggestions there.
Anyway just a suggestion.. If no ones interested, then I wont bother.
