I understand that the white one has been delayed, any idea when it will be released.

It's always been said that's it'll be a few months away, so I'm expecting in time for XMAS.

I'm also not convinced there were any glitches with it to cause any hold-ups as it's not a puzzle to make the panel behind the glass coloured white instead of black (assuming the stainless perimeter remains the same natural silver colour).

Rather I suspect it was either a case of:
a) run a single production line of black to accommodate the sheer quantities to meet a worldwide demand (possible, but how much delay would switching backing plates and preparing alternative packaging introduce to the run?).
:P create a second hype as the white version goes to market (far more likely).

Also has the glitch been fixed?

Or are you referring to the 'death grip'?

Interesting from my experiences, it's not that much an issue, even possibly isolated to particular people (body mass / capacitance etc). I've done call tests in a underground nightclub's back-room manager office and the iphone has performed fine, and continued to hold the call to my Blackberry even with the bumper removed.

So I'm sure the all new, singing and dancing white version will be even better. :D

Then there's my wife's original 8GB 3G version, useless reception, dead visual voicemail, hit and miss call connections. Anything's gotta be better than that!

I totally agree with you there. Typical Apple behavior. Make people salivate. I believe folks who already own the Black version will also jump on the White one when it is released. I believe that people have actually managed to make their own White ones simply by removing the white sheet under the glass panel. I saw pics of various colors and patterns on the web.
Yes the Glitch was with the drop outs and the requirement to purchase the "Bumper" in order to make and receive calls. Glad it's been fixed.

Aren't the new Android phones meant to be better than the i,Phone 4?

Yes, android phones are a lot better than i,Phones except apple has a much better press agent. Take the i,Pad style over substance if ever I seen it.

My girlfriend bought a 32 gig 3G i,Pad and whilst it looks nice and the i,Books look impressive on it there isn't a lot going for it TBH. She paid $500 for it and just had to fork out another $40+ for a camera connection kit. I t has minimal connections on it, a HDMI would have been useful. Definitely style over substance, bigtime. Though I do like the idea of a tablet, although one with more features and bigger memory.

You mean the one that when you speak into the micro phone, it repeats what you said and you can also stroke it and make it purr, growl etc? Yeah that cracks me up no end. :)

The Black one is nice, but the White one looks absolutely stunning. I work of art. When I saw leaked photos of the one that was posted on the web I was not convinced. It looked a bit chunky and I thought it had lost that sleek feel that the i,Phone was famous for. However, when I saw one in person I fell in love with it.

The problem with many smart phones is that even if they have a large screen, it's horizontal rather than vertical. Thats where the i,Phone wins thru. As much as I think i,Phones are over rated, I hate blackberries.

Have my name down for a 32Gb white i,Phone when it comes out. Still no definite word though on release date. People bought the Black one because the White was not available. Now those same people will buy the White one when it comes out. Clever strategy by Mr Jobs. MGB

Anyone got any impressions of the new Samsung Android phone, with the 4" screen? Is it an i,Phone killer?

^^^ Samsung Galaxy? If so, very slick phone, uber-bright display, fast eye candy, only the plasticy back lets it down for me.

And back on all things IP4, what gives with Apple's 'Face Time' video calling ads - which require WiFi - being streamed from bridal shops and footy locker rooms? It's bad enough they failed with enabling mobile network support for video calling, but to prance it around working beautifully in areas that ain't gonna be WiFi hotspots is a bit dodge.

Nah, footy locker rooms and bridal shops always have wi-fi. Where have you been?

I saw the Samsung Galaxy 5 this lunchtime. It is nice with a great screen. Agreed, the back looks a little "tacked on" compared to the front. Lovely screen on it tho. + it's memory is upgradeable, why can't apple do that?

In my opinion, Android Phones such as Samsung's Galaxy will never compete with i,phones due to the "poser value" Apple has. People don't walk down the street showing off their shiny new Android phone, even if it is awesome. That's where Apple wins. Poser bility

There lies the problem for Android phones. They just lack "Sex Appeal" and that "WOW" factor.
