Simple. Apple Macs encapsulate the most creative environment in the world to produce music so it only makes sense to have it heard on the single most creative music player in the world so as to preserve its creativity at every step along the way. It's like having the artist/composer/producer/engineer's creativity pulsating through your veins with every harmonic vibration from those cruddy white buds stuck in your ears. In fact, the entire train will likely hear it too.

Apple has spent $100 million developing an advanced antenna design and test labs

Apple never releases a product without thoroughly testing it first. To do this, we built our multimillion-dollar antenna design and test labs. These labs feature 17 different antenna characterization chambers (or anechoic chambers) designed to accurately measure antenna and wireless performance.

iPad is ace, aye. I'm looking forward to the multitasking on it... but basically my mrs does all of her computing on it now. Connected with the Bluetooth keyboard it's quite a usable laptop replacement. Don't waste your money on Apple's Numbers like i did - there's an app called DocsToGo that works much more like excel and has more import/export options to make excel compatible files (numbers wont export to xls).
Jester top apps for iPad:
1. PlugPlayer - turns my 1TB NAS into a streaming music machine... and allows me to 'remote control' my iPhone running PlugPlayer docked in the awesomage Aktimate speakers when i'm sinking piss and having 'dessert' on the deck
2. CogsHD - awesom way to show off the graphics and a challenging puzzle game.
3. Korg iElectribe - it's an electribe... on an iPad. Need more?
4. Bloom
5. AC-7 Pro
6. Gravilux - your inner gurn will thank you
7. EyeGasm II, III and Supernova - for when you really need an acid hit without the acid trip
8. Files HD - allows you to email 'n shit from your doc's created on the iPad plus sharing and shizzle like that.
9. Calculator XL - why the iPad doesn't have an inbuilt calculator app is beyond me.. but this one is free and calculates
10. Epicurious - Your lips will love you, your thighs may not.

Really ? wow , I bought one , but really I just want it to read on the train and do some web design wire framing. I also think that we havnt seen what the iPad is capable of yet, theres going to be some very cool apps coming out in the near future.
I hadnt really thought of it as a computer replacement ... although I pretty much have my laptop on my lap infront of the TV at night , ill probably replace it with the ipad now

The iPad is fast, of course this is the result of Apples tight control over what runs on it and how its run. I have no problems with the speed of my iPad.
Its definately not a computer replacement, I couldnt imagine doing any real work on one. I use mine to read tech books on the train, RSS feeds, note taking, games and internet. On my computer, Ill often have 8 or 9 applications open flicking in and out of each, firefox open with over a dozen tabs running.. That would be a nightmare on an ipad with only 1 button.
I think the problem is people keep thinking of them as a computer, in the same sense like a laptop , which its not. When you compare the two you come up with very different features ..
I throw my iPad in my bag and it gets knocked around all day, when I need it , I pull it out and its instantly on. I tell friends about my weekend or my europe trip and pull my iPad out and im instantly flicking through photos on that nice crisp screen .. Zooming and cropping with my fingers.
Laptops are a different animal completely ... They need recharging all the time, they need rebooting, they need mice or your confined to a touch pad, they weigh more, you cant just throw them around in your bag otherwise they break , and god help you if you dont have a SSD hard disk, they need configuring, they need software installations, they slow down and need defragging and cleanup scripts.
Reading a book on a laptop is painful , reading one on an iPad is very natural ...
Your laptop is your work device .. I own top end Macbook pro's , and I use them for power computing , video editing, audio engineering etc.
My iPad kind of bridges the gap between the laptop and my iPhone, it doesnt replace them. Of course, you have to be a pretty big nerd to actually need a device to bridge that gap ... Most people dont have need to read RSS feeds or edit CSS , or wireframe web sites on the train or at a coffee shop , so I completely understand when people say theres no use for an iPad .. Its just THEY have no use for one.

well i dont have a keyboard for mine so trying to type stuff in is slow
also if you need to copy and paste text it is a nightmare
but i agree it is handy
i have a spiffy cover for mine so it doesnt get knocked around
my top apps are:
UZU
IanotatePDF
SunVox
TrixMix2
TeslaWars
Osmos
Pcalc
I want to get Griid but i dont have Ableton8
i really like it most for the interactive visual art apps I have so many UZU is the best, then maybe thicket, gravilux and bubble harp
The most productive tool it is for me is a portable pdf reader
I use it to carry all my schematics when building stuff and with IanotatePDF i can draw on them. It works so well
I would use it as a remote desktop for my work computer but that implies im going to do work from home.. hell no to that!!

yea, not great for that, although there are some slick apps out there that you pipe in your FTP details and you can just update your web site files on the fly. I only really use that for CSS editing . Its quite usable , but normally I work at home and work with 2 x 24" monitors next to each other , so its a bit strange working on the small screen.
If mac rabbit Espresso comes out on iPad , ill change my tune probably , I use that on Mac and its great

Call me girly but I actually want the White one when it eventually comes out. I didn't like it initially but it grew on me rapidly. Will have to wait tho as next month it is Macbook Pro.

I understand that the white one has been delayed, any idea when it will be released. Also has the glitch been fixed?
