so I've figured out how to load patches and swap them over and stuff in live
and even got a patch editor to talk to the tx7 and make my own patches
now im wondering is there any way to control this using automation
from my understanding it uses sysex to do all this and live only send midi cc - like pitch bends n stuff
so does this mean a leap into the world of logic?
if so where do I start?

Not really what the TX/DX was designed for. You can't really tweak parameters as such. It will respond to the 'standard' CC commands (like pitch, volume, velocity) but not adjustment on the patch FM parameters. If you start sending Sysex, then you're going to drop notes - you can't have it operating in receipt of Sysex AND CC signals. Seems to be a limitation on the DX/TX.
Well, that's my experience with them anyway. Even the editor can't do things real time - you edit then play then edit then play.

ok cheers for that but i guess with clever patch programming you can get sounds that change over time - some of the pads in the box are lushous

Yeah, the Yammy pads have always been top notch. FM lends itself to those long evolving pad sounds.
