How to embed flash vids?

6 posts in this topic

Hey Cheyne and/or video gurus,

What's the required format/file extension for embedding a flash vid - that is assuming the flash link works?

I assume the file can live on the SP server and hotlink back?

I tried uploading a standard .flv file encoded with flv1 video codec but it didn't show up...  :-

Cheers!

Yep that's the process I tried and all I get in the post is a white box  :(

Am I supposed to insert a player rather than a file?

Heya ;)

.FLV isnt a shockwave flash file, its a Flash encoded movie.  The tagging does work (and iv enabled it)  but it will only accept .SWF files.

You should be able to convert your .FLV to a SWF ,  it basically just embeds the video into a standard flash file.

Sweet - easy done  ;)

FYI for the Mac fanbois out there, here's a fast and reliable freeware video converter:

http://www.kigo-video-converter.com/

The free version converts all standard formats including flash, with the exception of wmv*. The pro paid version adds 3GPP and other mobile formats.

* wmv can be converted with the addition of a free codec, downloaded from the same site  :)

8.... (what will I do with post 2000 hmm? suggestions welcome ;) )

also .flv is pretty much obsolete

flash can play h.264 natively

so make a quicktime and play it via flash

its what youtube have been doing
