Any chance of some feedback/mini review/report/info about what users think of Cubase 4 & 5. Likes, dislikes, etc? Comparisons to Logic & Pro Tools (if you have used either) would be most welcome.
I moved to Pro Tools at around the SX2/SX3 mark. I did one of those 'crossgrade' deals a couple of years ago. While I don't regret learning and using the 'industry standard' so to speak, I'm getting tired of no freeze, no ADC and the MIDI editing in Pro Tools (including PT8) still seems a little clunky to use.
I remember just liking the way Cubase did its thing and I'm starting to think about going back to it for the 'creative' work. I would love to hear some comparitive feedback, likes or gripes if possible.
Cheers gang.

cubase 4.5 is the most stable version i've ever used .. been using cubase since v3 pre vst and haven't tried any other DAW for any lengthy period except logic and i prefer cubase's work flow over logic.. logic's plugins shit all over cubase though .... the only thing i can't stand about the newer versions of cubase is media bay and the whole soundframe idea everything else is great

I agree!!!
Playing alot with Cubase 5 LE and after the initial shock of "What am I doing", it becomes easier and easier. Very user friendly interface and alot of effects and tweaks at your fingertips. the only problem I have with Cubase, is that its so addictive, that I get carried away and end up having a nice mellow recording, become some extravagent, warped track. Nevertheless, Cubase is definately an application which can make a hard job seem easy!

^ I don't know man. My experience on it wasn't as pleasant. It crashed a couple of times while recording. I thought that was the absolute worst thing a program that does recording could do - crash while recording. I thought they were designed not to do that. Oh well, seemed like decent program other than that. I think i may have to go back to reaper...

I have been a Cubase user since the atari st days and like yourself jumped ship at the sx3 stage. I tried various other platforms from Sonar to Ableton even Reaper at one stage but admitted defeat and returned back to Cubase at version 5, it was like coming home.
When first using 5 I did find it a little jittery at first and had a tendancy to crash however upgrades and just knowing what I can and can't get away with seems to have sorted it out. For example, a surefire way to crash 5 is to flick through the presets in Albino 3 while not fully releasing the keys when selecting the next sound. I have found the best workaround for it is, just don't do it.
Looking forward to hearing others experiences in this department or is it just me.

I use Cubase and Nuendo quite often as well I tried a couple other programs for a while as both DAW'S and music creation however I concluded that cubase is the most balanced especially for live sound reinforcement.
I have some of the fusions as well as a couple compositions I put together here.
