a bit of a limited and expensive ($450 USD for the software only) full version update if you ask me.

the whole grove template and sample warp thing is cool and being ableton i think it will work a bit easier than cubase's warping will have to wait and see

each channel has a + b option
by master slide is an x in circle
this brings up x fader
then swaps between channels that are a + b'd

ZOMG! I'm much much more excited about the APC40. That is exactly the controller I have imagined and wished for to control Ableton. Bet it costs too much.

APC40.... Bet it costs too much.

What do you suppose it might cost here in Australia?

I'd be surprised if the RRP was more than $899.

I've only just been on the last three beta releases for Ableton 8 and have been enjoying the new touches. Warp marking has changed, and fans of overdrive and saturation will enjoy the improvements. There's some bugs but its a beta, so that's the point. Theres some weird stuff people are getting upset about, such as midi note edit "colour placeholder" things, but thats all just tiny changes to GUI.

As for the APC, a mate at one of the retailers that supplies hardware for reviews here has quoted sticker price around a grand, with a street price suggested in the high 800 range pending store and launch deals. It looks like May is the landing date. Its pretty pricey but the market has been tough since the financial crisis. Just ask the wholesalers! Exact figures will be confirmed in good time, but thats the suggestion at the moment.
