Hey guys I was wondering if you guys would be able to help me get this sound...

I am looking to emulate the delay/reverb effect that is on the vocals of this Zoo Brazil track.

Any idea of delay times? Any other effects being used?

Thanks guys.

ahhh was some firefox wackiness. all good.

sounds like a small verb to me, room or plate, or a verrry tight delay with little feedback.

experiment :(

It's a trick shown to me once by Mike Stavrou - not his idea but passed on :(

1) Choose a reverb plug-in that has predelay or early reflection settings separate from decay time settings

2) Choose a small plate or small room reverb

3) set the decay time to 0 or the shortest time your plug-in will permit - has to be less than 100msec

4) whilst listening to the music, gradually ride the predelay up from 0 to a time that creates a 32nd or 16th note delay - could be around 80-120msec depending on the tempo of the track. You'll know it when you hear it because the predelay will start to pump in time with the track.

The result is a short slap delay but diffused and blurred a little by the reverb algorithm - sounds like you're in a small bathroom. Gives extra ambience and softness to the vocal without muddying up the mix with too much verb ;)

^^^ I Like it.
Could work well on some other stuff like plucked guitar, if you wanted it upfront and relatively dry but it needed more presence.
Thanks man, nice trick.

Great tip, rhythmboy! I'll have to try this out some time and see what I can get out of it.
