Thought this was a great summary of what's floating around the RTAS stables for free:

Izotope Vinyl - A cool record simulation plug in. - http://izotope.com/p...ts/audio/vinyl/

Massey Plugins - THC, CT4, L2007, vt3, TapeHead, TD5, These are actually really good, but have some limitations. You cant bypass or save settings. I like the L20007 mastering compressor, tape head, and the delay. - http://www.masseyplugins.com/

Massey Tools. - HRMP, Listen, Slacker, Talkback, Wet dry, Mid Side, Recall Notes. Talkback is a great idea, no more gating talkback mics with time code. And recall notes is pretty useful too, I like it better than comment view. Not normal plugins, but they do some cool stuff. - http://www.smassey.com/plugin.html

Key to Sound Remedy - A pretty cool free virtual synth. Well worth the price. -  http://www.keytosoun..._section=remedy

PSP Vintage meter - A meter. - http://www.pspaudiow.../plugins1.html;

Sound hack Free sound bundle - Some of it looks like it might be cool, but I haven't done a lot with them. -  http://www.soundhack.com/freeware.php

RNDigittal Inspector - A decent meter. - http://www.rndigital.../inspector.html

Nomad Factory Bundle - I've used these before and they're kind of fun, but I couldnt get them to work. Maybe they're not universal binary, I didn't really investigate. http://nomadfactory....ree_bundle.html

Tritone Color tone and Phase tone - I haven't tried them much, but phasetone seems like it could be cool. You have to install pluggo runtime, I'm not sure if its worth the hassle. - http://www.tritonedi...ex.php?cPath=25

Linplug Alpha free - A cool little virtual synth. - http://www.linplug.c...ad/download.htm

Digidesign Structure Free - I use it to import exs patches from Logic, but it doesn't always do a great job of it. - www.digidesign.com

Xpand - Sounds ok. - www.digidesign.com

Flux Bitter-sweet II and Stereo Tool - A Transient Designer type plug... It could be cool. Also theres a stereo image, phase correlation meter. - http://www.fluxhome....id=71&Itemid=79

Sonalkis Free G - Its a fader. And a meter. It didn't seem all that cool to me, but whatever tickles your pickle. - http://www.sonalksis...p?section_id=99

Fxpansion Orca - A monophonic synth. I really like it. - http://www.fxpansion...xmode=singletab

Brainworx bx_solo - A m/s tool with stereo width control. Kind of cool - http://www.brainworx...26&um=2&lang=en

Native Instruments Kore Player. - A watered down version of Kore2, but it has some cool sounds in it. The upright bass is cool enough to make the download worth while. - http://www.native-in...p?id=koreplayer

Ohm Force Frohmage - A filter. It filters. - http://www.ohmforce....action=freeware

And if you don't have EQII, drag it out of the unused plug-ins folder into the plug-in folder.

Feel free to add any more you stumble across! ;)

Wow eh, the Kore Player looks alright!

http://www.native-in...p?id=koreplayer

Free, advanced instrument with access to the best NI sounds

KORE PLAYER is a free software instrument with a production-ready 300 MB sound library. Built on the same principles as the flagship KORE 2 Super Instrument, KORE PLAYER includes six Native Instruments sound engines under the hood and provides ready-to-play sounds that can be browsed and tweaked via the ultra-intuitive KORE PLAYER interface.

How come I've only stumbled across this thing now? D/L now...

Oh wow, thats a very good list! A few there I didn't know or forgot about. RNDigittal Inspector is gold IMO and I haven't tried that Brainworx one before but I use one of their EQs and it sounds really good. Might check this out too. Cheers mate!

Yeah, great list eh!

Synth-wise, the winners for me are:

- Key to Sound Remedy (well featured, analogue subtractive)

- Native Instruments Kore Player (sample player, ala Xpand! and loaded with fresh textures with great clarity, and a couple of banks of high quality percussion. Damn really as it's reignited my interest in splurging on NI stuff!)

Must get onto the effects...

And here's a few more...

http://www.dontcrack...s/plugins/RTAS/

And a few more again...

http://www.dontcrack...s/plugins/RTAS/

Just a reminder, if you're running an Mac OS X Intel machine, you must run Intel or UB (Universal Binary) versions of RTAS plug-ins or you'll have session reliability issues (not to mention non-working plug-ins).

You can check for suitability by clicking on the plug-in file icon once and choosing "Get Info" from the menu (or Apple + I) and ensuring "Universal" or "Intel" appears in the section under "Kind".

Also, many of those plugs are OS9, so be sure to look for the X logo, not the Blue Smiley thing. ;)

That list is pretty much complete, only thing I'd add to it is the new Soundhack delay bundle.

Xpand! is free, but you can't download it, can only get it on cd.

There's also IK Multimedia Ampeg SVX UNO and Amplitube 2 Duo which are free upgrades for anyone that had Amplitube LE.
You can also find these as special bonus offers once in a while, or if you go to trade shows you might be able to find it on cd.

Ah, cool. Cheers for the heads-up on the SoundHack Delay.

http://www.soundhack.com/freeware.php

I'm itching for him to put something like the convolution effect from his standalone SoundHack utility into a RTAS or AS format. I love mashing two files together to get a new sound on the output.

Free plugin: Get the niveau filter for your DAW!

Check out the Niveau Filter section of our famous mpressor plugin - it's free! Add punch to muffled snares, reduce the harshness from active pickups, create some wonderful Dub and LoFi sounds... There are so many ways to benefit from this little tool. It's fast, efficient, and most important: it sounds great!

The niveau filter plugin is available in RTAS, VST and AU formats with installers for Mac OS and Microsoft Windows. And yes, it's really free.
