There are some dvd's and stuff also some good tutorials on youtube. The best is to read the manual as a problem comes up, so you are learning about the aplication for yourself.

Yup, this is definitely the best place to start. I recommend trying out the stuff he teaches in each vid before moving on to the next one. Practice makes perfect!
You're right not to RTFM just yet. Reading it from start to finish will take a year and leave you entirely mind-boggled. It's more useful as a reference once you've got your head around a few basic concepts (which are all expertly taught by sflogicninja

yeah - the manual's great to flick thru every now and then once you're comfortable with the basic ins and outs.... but there are so many awesome tricks you really need to be shown - which is where vids on the Apple site, YouTube, and on magazine DVDs like Future Music really help.

o.k. I've started watching the macprovideos.
It is a lot more interesting* and better structured than reading the manuals.
*just have to put up with the annoying voice :-)

I have a question. I want to assign a knob on my novation remote 25 LE to lets say a control on the EFM1 instrument. How do I do this?

Answer :
1. on the esx24 (or any) move the onscreen knob or fader,
2. then go under >logic>preferences>control surfaces>controler assignemts or "appleL"
3. then hit learn midi, then move the fader on your controller

Question : How important is it to set the key signature to it's correct value in Logic?

Set the what to the what now? I can't think of a reason why it would matter.

go esx 24 configure your root note and make sure pitch box is unchecked when you do this then check it after and stretch the step note box across your selected area
but if you are talking about correctly getting your sample in key try kontact or battery by NI
