click on the audio clip

at the bottom of screen you see the clips properties

there is a reverse button in there, pretty sure its next to the double time / half time buttons (confusing i know - umm in t he clip properties its the second window across from the right

just click that and the sample reverses usually best to make a copy of the sample and then reverse the copy

yeah thats right.... can take a while for longer samples, but you can get around that by consolidating the section that you want to reverse before you go to reverse it.

just adding on to this... whats the easiest way to reverse midi? i know theres effects prgms to use etc, but is there any alternative methods?

I usually just flatten and freeze the track in a new channel then make audio. Then reverse this, but it seems too much, i don't know could just be me being lazy!

Reversing MIDI won't sound the same as reversing audio. If you're reversing a MIDI drum clip for example, your drum VSTi or machine will still play the drum sounds forwards, just in reverse order. Same deal with synth lines, all of the envelopes and filter sweeps and LFO's will still sound the same (i.e. short attacks and long decays won't be reversed), just the notes will be played in reverse order.

That's it exactly. Midi in this case (ignoring CC's and NRPN's) is just note information... when to turn on, turn off, what velocity etc. You need to capture the audio of what it's telling a synth or sampler to do before you can do anything with that audio. There are some plugin's that try this, but most reversing effects are either faux effects using a snippet of the audio coming through or else have to happen after the event plays through. Something like dBlue Glitch doesnt read ahead to my knowledge, so can only "reverse" once the audio event has been triggered for some time. In other words you can't make a reverse plugin on the channel of a midi triggered softsampler say "tac" until its actually said "cat".

Anyone know any read-ahead reversing plugins???
