Just wanting to see whether anyone one has had any experience with either...

a) MIO Metric Halo 2882 or (;) MIO Metric Halo ULN 2-DSP (http://www.proaudios...-io-uln2dsp.htm)

I have a mate who is interested and i told him i would put it to the sound punkers to try to get some feedback whether it be possitive or negative.

cheers

On the face of it they look good, having dedicated word clock connectors always makes me feel more comfortable, means they usually take the clock thing seriously.

Would be interesting to put them side by side with the MOTU interfaces like the 828 and the Traveller - features vs price. I do know the MOTU units sound really clean and are very reliable.

That being said I haven't actually used it, but the features on the MIO look comprehensive...

I noticed that m-audio have just released a new audio interface called the Profire 2626. It has 26 ins and 26 outs with 8 octane pre-amps and goes for $899 USD. Looks pretty impressive.

26 :wtf: Plus you can get it running up to 24-bit/192kHz!

Thats a good deal for so many features.
Only slight prob is if your using it with PT it only supports M-Powered which has a limit of 96kHz and 18 x 18 I/O maximum. (so it says on the site)

Still a solid piece of machinery there.

;D I blew the whistle he gave me for when we need him but no dice.
For some reason I thought he used M-Powered PT but I guess not. So how do you get a hold of these batman symbols?

I hear that Gotham City has a couple of second hand ones going dirt cheap. I think RB does use a m-audio sound card but he can answer that better than anyone i guess.

^ I hear the call!  ;D

Meh - M-audio interfaces...

The only good thing about running M-powered is that I can run other audio apps simultaneously with Tools. I'm constantly running Tools and iTunes at the same time etc. Very handy when other Digi hardware won't permit.

However the sound quality is less than desirable. As posted elsewhere I use the s/pdif output to a better set of converters for monitoring. Using it as a multi I/O unit would be a bit didgy imo.

Unless absolutely needing PT, I'd go the MIO or MOTU over M-Audio any day.
