banana's are already the perfect example of ID.. they were obviously designed to fit the human hand ( :bang: ), Maybe if they find proof of the golden ratio's in banana's then.. well we would have to rethink all science wouldn't we ;D

TBH I was ready with a full BAH! tirade earlier today - what a load... :eatadick:
Then tonight I'm reading a music therapy book and a chapter on the great Greek philosophers and their observations of the use of music in medicine - and in effect the Ancient Greeks were the first people in the West to practice empirical, scientific medicine as we know it today.
The Greeks were big on the mathematical power of musical scales, and the effect the numerological patterns of interval and harmony could have on a person's wellbeing - especially psychological and emotional.
So maybe there's something in it, people have been looking for these 'magical' patterns for thousands of years. The cool thing about maths is that it's full of 'magic numbers' and using the right formula you can make anything fit a pattern really.
So 'Golden Ratio?' - I think is bit far fetched. But patterns of sound having an effect on the mind and body? - for sure :bang: :cans: :bang: :cans:

Sure Amen Brother is brilliant, but it wouldn't be the same, not without the golden accompaniment of Lyn Collins, and the squeaky little voice saying "she bad!"

I'm not denying the validity of the golden ratio or the fibonacci sequence as mathematical theories. Just their application in the physical world. For every pineapple or tree or human body (or breakbeat! Lol) that follows the theory, there are thousands that don't...

i dunno i thought it was kinda neat but im the sort of person who reads horoscopes and shit like that. im also looking for the magical formula to make killah tracks without any effort. my previous experiments with pi and e were decidedly less successful!

Fibonacci, golden ratios, mandelbrots... being mathematical theories they also make for great musical starting points - but unlike a pineapple music is an abstract entity itself. Hey even the cycle of fifths and the equal tempered tuning system are mathematical constructs that have served us well for hundreds of years!
So yeah the maths can help make some interesting music - and music has the power to promote wellbeing (although mandelbrot music tends to make me a bit tense :wtf: ), then there's possibility for a connection here and there.
There are a lot of theories but I don't think they'll ever crack the singular 'magic code' of music. Altho at the mo I'm watching an ABBA doco on TV - maybe Benny and Bjorn had it - jeez what songwriting...

Another example of a musical experiment using the Fibonacci concept.... Tool, Lateralus
