I was hoping Mr MOTU might chime in ,  but I thought this might of been a user experience someones had ..  I had the same problem with the  1.3 firmware release they put out aswell.

What are the benefits of the update? I'm pretty happy with the way it is now so not sure I'd wanna mess around with it unless I'm getting some super new whizzbang features...

Its just a firmware update ,  it fixes a few small bugs ... none that were that major to me , but if its a newer version  , i wanted to apply it ..

For the record ,  I managed to get it to work , by using the MAC update client ...  The Windows one didnt work

Iv found that with a lot of things ...

Iv often found that people who've used macs for many years , really dont know a thing about computers ... simply because they've never had to learn ,  they just click install and it works ..    Long time PC users are usually experts because they have to troubleshoot everything , google problems and dig through fixes and driver updates ...   I think this is another classic example of that..    Here I was digging through the MOTU forums , trying to debug the app with filemon, digging through error logs , and still couldnt fix it ..  I downoaded the mac app ,  clicked update and it was done...  lol

Being a long time geek my self , it certainly is a breath of fresh air for things to just work on the first attempt,  it's especially surprising to see it happen with audio gear and sequencers.. its no wonder most musicians starting out buy Mac's ..
