the only prob i had was trying to access the Fkeys - had to hit the FCN button as well, tho there is a preference to change that
i run cs4 on my macbook and have never thought "wish i was on a pc"

I'm no expert on version etc but generally speaking we run 25+ installs of cubase on macs at uni and never have a glitch.
That's also considering we run them on a LAN network, intranet, internet, 20+ other apps, remote desktop, Mbox v1's, and up to 10 different people punishing each machine 5 days a week.
It goes.

Does CS4 look the same as C4 ? .. The external instrument VST rack thing sounds cool , but its probably not worth the extra money ...

looks exactly the same, and to be perfectly honest I haven't bothered with the external VST thingies

HPS? will vouch for it's reliability/performance on his Macbook too when he sees this thread, I'm sure
I take it there's an upgrade option later down the track, if you ever need it? Hey, I run a lite version (Pro Tools) and more than get by. While I've not directly compared to Cubase in years, there didn't seem to be any glaring omissions on the lite version, aside from running hardware as an insert instrument/effect, but even then, wasn't there a workaround that could achieve the same signal path, if not as elegant?

well considering I dont actually own many external instruments, aside from actual musical instruments , it probably wont effect me much ..
Dosnt ehsan use cubase ? .. I remember him being a pretty big hardware whore ?

Indeed he does - but I'm still on SX3 and honestly won't be upgrading any time soon - I'm completely happy with CSX3 and ain't feeling the pinch to get current yet. I make little use of the included plugs. As for the external instruments thing - I gather that lets you make use of the new instrument tracks? I'm happy with the MIDI/Audio track partnership I operate.
And yes, my sounds are pretty much all hardware - so again I think that what I'd gain would be more along the sidechain/routing side with the 4.1 update. Sidekick and my knack of running a cable out of the Ultralite and back in overcomes the routing issues.

Yea , fair play .. I wouldn’t bother either , id still use my SX3 if I owned one .. I was using a mates dongle for a while , then he took it back , so iv been using a cracked version , and its crap .. And im sick of loosing my work to crashes from hacked dongle call software. I was looking to buy an SX3 copy , but its actually like 3 times more expensive then buying CS4 ? .. So im not going to bother , ill just get a copy of CS4 .
My hardware library will probably only span to about 2 or 3 key instruments , so its not going to be hard to manage .. not exactly a racks worth

you wont regret it up to 4.03 wasn't real stable 4.1 is rock solid. Try to avoid using it with leopard stay with tiger for the time being. more to do with 3rd party plugs. i have a leopard install on a external drive for testing and some plugs don't like it yet ... there's a few different shortcut keys but other than that it's identical except for the fact the your not bound by a cubase window in OS X . keeping in mind that if you want sidechaining it's only available to VST 3 plugs not 3rd party yet until steiny release the VST 3 sdk ..
