please be gentle, my first post.//

Anyone heard of this brand? every review on the net appears to be taken from the same press release.

but i like the price.

I only need it as my onboard card gives poor latency and unwanted snap, crackle and pop. Maybe in the future i might want to record a guitar or something, but at the moment latency and clean sound are all i need. Is this the right kind of thing?
or does anyone have something laying around they wanna offload for a couple o hundred bucks that will do it better?

My limited set up is
asus f3jr running xp, ableton lite and a microkontrol.

here it is on ebay

Although I've had 0 experience with the Alpha, Lexicon products are pretty awesome.

Have you searched Sound On Sound for a review?

Thank you, Captian!

Its just that i dont recall reading anything about it in my internet travels. I guess my main question is, is something like this gonna get me low latency, like less than 10ms, and good audio stability out of ableton.

People always talk about motu, or m-audio for low end. Also edirol or tascam. but i dont really care about recording, i jusr want quick sampling and vst latency.

n00b, i know.

Yeah it look like it would do the trick, is there any reason why you want that unit especially?
There are tones of options.... not to say dont get it (ive not used it and wouldnt know) but the options are VAST.

happy hunting

its cheap. $185 including delivery off ebay from a canberra seller.

I know the options are vast, which is kinda what is making a head spin a bit. I understand controollers and synths and mixers and vst and DAW. but when it comes to soundcards, esp usb ones, im a bit..... like, woah.

Do these things process the sound onbaord, like data is sent over usb cable and the sound is generated in the unit.

If so, is USB2.0 better, or does it not make much diff.
