my mate's got one of these (and a mirage).  Has got a great sound.  It's 12-bit from memory yeah?

Does it have 4x memory and SCSI?

Check out

One cool trick with the EPS is setting the mod wheel to sample loop points. You can get it to point the loop points into neighbouring samples. lo-fi Glitchtasticness.

EPS has the worst keyboard though with a loud audible click and the sequencer is horrible and doesn't record MIDI.

Enjoy!

FZ-1
Let's see...built in waveforms are a bonus when you rock up to a gig and you've forgotten your sample disks.
Nice keyboard action. You're lucky if the EL backlight still works...
Thank Casio for having the foresight to use a parallel port for sample dumps...i.e. no SCSI.

My EPS hasn't seen the light of day for a while...I've run out of space for keyboards in the studio.

I recently got a Prophet 2002+...12-bit sampler with analog filters 512k RAM and built in waveforms. Nice bass sounds. Stupid unreadable manual.

So buy another one... I'd be very surprised if you pulled it out and it's not a generic drive with a slightly different case ;)

oh yeh nice work on the ensoniq... they made a few unusual and gnarly things back in the day. ASR-10 was very popular as a live keyboard for a while, lets you play one bank of samples while loading another.

i love changing floppies on stage ;)

I had a VFX synth for a few years. I think a lot of Ensoniq models of that era used the same keyboard, screen and outer shell, just different engines and buttons.

VFX likewise had a very clicky keyboard, also the buttons are clicky too, and prone to loosening up or breaking. MIDI spec was weird and 21-note polyphony  :-

However, I loved its sounds, had really deep programming, good FX and lots of personality.

Enjoy the EPS Dec0n - they're quirky and fun  ;)

ok, its got the 4x memory and the 8 outputs, but alas no SCSI, I guess thats super wishful thinking...
This is my 1st real keyboard, so I guess I would have no idea it sucks, I luvs it.

Jester, apparently the floppy drives are non-standard  :(

but I found these excellent people that solve these problems: http://www.hometown....66/Drives1.html
man they even have floppy drives for my SP1200!

so for only $72 usd (plus shipping) I can get a new one  :bang:

There's a few EPS SCSI kits available

http://www.syntaur.com/asr-scsi.html
http://www.kidnepro....e/eps-scsi.html

I think Pete's musician's market in Sydney had one. Not sure if its' still there.

i used the eps16+ quite alot, the sequencer is annoying as fuck, and it would pack up if i tried to use an external sequencer. half the buttons stopped working and it was more of a hed fuk than anything else in the end. i did have alot of fun with it.
