Ive got several issues with my M-Audio Audiophile USB and vista. I did download the new vista drivers from m-audio, installed them fine but cant get the card to work properly at all. After the first restart i was able to get very distorted sound only on the left speaker (or left headphone) and this was at full volume on the card and pc. After fiddling for at least another hour i was able to get sound coming out perfectly, no issues at all, though this didnt last long. I left the pc for about 30mins, had some dinner, came back and had exactly the same issue as before. Ive tried 4 USB ports and multiple driver refreshes. I do have onboard sound (currently disabled) and a creative SB!live PCI card which i will be taking out of the machine when i get home from work. Has anyone got any suggestions as to why or how i can fix this issue, im pretty sure its a hardware contflict so i will try removing all sound drivers and starting over again (with the creative card removed and onboard disabled).
Has anyone else had similar problems? If i cant get it working tonight im gonna get XP pro back on try with that, im pretty much over vista already, its annoying the shit outta me.

I had a problem with my speedio soundcard with vista in that everytime someone would turn the kitchen fan on the drivers would freeze meaning I would have to shutdown my laptop and restart it. Never happened with XP.
I also had a problem with my trigger finger in that post installing the drivers it would work and then drop off. What I had to do is go into device manager and manually point it to the drivers, this made it a little more stable.
Vista would be good if it weren;t so shit!

the only audio software that supports vista and their waveRT software is Cakewalk i think any way.
Plus in ableton the graphics lag badly.
Dual boot if you wanna run anything else. but Vista has no advantage over XP apart from prettyness, so format that shit and reinstall.

Vista is a fantastic office OS I reakon. The new search/start menu thing is fucking awesome. The speed of the OS in general totally topples XP. And yes, it's very pretty.
I've got my Ultralite and my 'not supported' Midex3 running just fine out of Reaper in Vista. I've not tried installing Cubase yet as my plug auths are all on XP but I may try it soon for a laff.
Persist, and Vista will deliver.

I am sure it will come good... once you cut out the crap it runs quite fast - its just the stability I have issues with!!

Maybe soon, once everything supports it.
But what pisses me off is that my laptop is a dual core, 2ghz each. with 2 gb RAM and an entire galaxy of fandangled whats its. why is the OS still so slow. slow to load, slow to to some things, this thing should be doing this before ive even thought of them.
I'm keeping my eye on linux, which i tihnk will be my next os. Interesteing things are happening with Music software now, and if you want you can join any dev team to help program features. or at least debug/ feature request.
Plus its all free!!!!!!!!!!

hey gosh - yeah, I run ubuntu as my net/mp3/whatever machine. It ain;t without its problems though. compatability, apps functioning weirdly etc. While there's support out there, it take a while to find answers.
Still, music on linux is getting more and more attractive. If Ableton went to linux I'd probably have to consider jumping ship completely. Though I'd really miss my VSTis too..
