hey dudes, just a heads up to anyone who's ever considered going hardware.

The MPC1000 has had a HOOGE facelift due to some mysterious japanese programmer dude rewriting the operating system.

new features added include

Grid edit
Faster/better file naming
MTC/MMC support
Audio track recording (not just midi anymore!)
Realtime Pitch shift
Bit converter
Ring modulation

and a whole bunch of other stuff that i guess only MPC users would get.

Anyway, I'm pretty chuffed with my machine since this new OS came along, just thought i'd share my joy.

JJ OS, sounds f'n ace. I have a 2kXL that hasn't been touched yet but this tempted me to make the switch to a 1k or 2.5k.

I don't use but reminded me of this Aussie offering for the 3000 - costs a bit but does a fair bit. Called Vallixi:

- new editing features
- MTC/clock to all 4 outs
- hybrid format hard drive partitioning
- 32Mb single files
- new quantising grooves
- hard burnt onto a ROM
etc etc

Made by a mate Rohan Mansell - and made in Melbourne :)

there you go.

Download version 5. something something, then find out what your code is (i think by trying to save something with the new OS, then paypal him $30 and ask for a password.

or you can just try the free 3. something, but it's missing a lot of cool features.

peace out

ive got os2 on the mpc 1000, and i am truly impressed. Some of the new options make work so much easier.

My favourites are

PITCH ADSR, now i can synthesize percussion from basic waveforms.
