nothing wrong with final scratch at all if you don't scratch much imo!

sorry zac but i sold it a while ago in the naughty other forum for $500 :) it sure did serve me well and made me heaps better at mucking around with music. actually i'd probably credit it with getting me to muck around with making music because it got me into midi and such and all the experimentation etc ( :-* traktor)

sounds like ill have to save for traktor : insert much needed chinstroke smiley here :

serato has some visual features coming out, which tickles my vj interest. programs like pcdj and mspinky have had video control for a while now... although i might not be interested in a visual scratch system... just a program like resolume or arkaos..

/ goes to research about traktor scratch

i should prob focus on thing at a time lol, not combine the two

hang on, one question regardless whether you have prefference to traktor...

if one was to buy an old copy of serato 2nd hand, would they still be able to get the free upgrades?

$0 - Xwax
$55 - timecode vinyl
$230 - U46DJ

~$285AUD :)

It would be 11ty times more stable than any of your Windows crap too, not to mention alot better performing if you're running a light distro.

Zac, as far as the free upgrades are concerned i would imagine that you wouldnt as unless the person who sells it gives you all usernames and passwords. But that is still a bit fishy legality wise... :stroke:

It would be best to send rane/ serato an email asking just that.

traktor scratch is running fine on my setup at the moment. will provide a little review or some-such thing probably after the weekend when i've used it a bit more. loving the feel compared with fs2 - the control vinyls are heaps more like real vinyl :cans:

well you imagine wrong jay :)

when you buy serato you are really paying for the black box, anyone can download the latest software off the site,  from memory you may not even have to register to get it

without the black box your fuct , you wont be able to use the software for anything else so why bother protecting it

anyway i have sort of hung up my DJ'ing gloves for good i would say (would rather sit at home on a saturday night making tunes than try to please wastoid f*ckwits)

SO, i am thinking of selling my serato, obviously it will be second hand, but i am willing to get the person who buys it fully up and running (not that its hard)

will check out the re-sale value and drop a discount on it for any punkers interested - will report back.

Yeah, i knew you could download the software for free, i just wasn't aware of any other things that may be required like drivers and stuff.

If not thats awesome :)
I am slowly but surely pulling back on the amount of DJing i am doing, can't keep burning the candle at both ends anymore.

But am of a similar mindset, rather sit at home drunk and making myself happy with beats and bleeps.

my sentiments at the moment exactly :)

i mean i will always do  the odd gig, if its descent, but no more doing gigs that I am doing it just for the money

i have truely resoted to the work all week, produce all weekend, HAVE NO F*CKING LIFE WHATSOEVER

frame of mind  - and funnily enuff......have never been happy in my entire life  :cans:

Awesome news, i am currently approaching a major fork in the road with my career and i guess as that provides all the niceties that i have become accustom to and the ability to really get on top of mortgage etc...

So i would say that over the next six months i want to get into a position where i am not reliant on Djing to the masses.

If you're just DJing, I'd say Serato seems way more stable overall. Traktor's got way more features (like well-made effects, MIDI clock sync, completely customizable UI, key lock/pitch mod, etc.) but is also quite unstable sometimes. Forget using it if you have tables with a weak signal, my friend and I take our Numark TT200s wherever we go in case the tables don't work properly.
