:-*

What do the seasoned DJ's here think of this?
( n00b here )

I imagine I can learn perfectly well on this despite its smaller platter size, I mean for years people mixed on old rack-mounted cdjs right?

Curious to hear everyones opinions

Yeah, I actually think this is a bit alright. So AUD$849 gets you a neat control surface that allows one to simply hook up a USB hard drive loaded with tracks to the back of it. The platter size is really not an issue. Yep, bloody cool piece of gear, I feels. Still needs a DJ mixer to complete the rig.

Not that I'd be likely to buy one though. ;)

;D Are they still flogging that POS?! Tell me, it doesn't even have a cue-in-headphones function, does it? Meaning one can't listen to one channel on headphones, while the main output is playing another channel? I never found it anyway.

Righteo Zac. Give me a budget to work around and i will give you some suggestions.

Have you got a lappy to use?

If you do i would be seriously looking at the vestax controller thing with traktor hooked up to it and a small Audio interface and you would be set.

The vestax controller is around the same money as that i think and i am sure it would be sturdier than the numark unit.
I have played around with the vestax unit for about an hour and for a DJ style controller it is the shit. Built like a tank.

If it was me looking to do the same thing Zac this is the way i would go.

I would like to give one a go, to see how sturdy it is, it looks like a cheap way for a vinyl DJ to incorporate some digital action into their performance. I think its really aimed at that market, that jaycar mixer is a POS full stop. Do not buy it it will not do what you need it to do.

hehe the jaycar thingy is a joke ;)

as for vestax, im sure its very strong but i have no interest in a controller, i.e. i dont wanna drag a laptop around with me

Fair enough.

I would like to give one a go before i commit to making any firm comments on it.

Sorry guys, which Vestax controller are you referring to?

And has there been anything more on that M-Audio "DJ Mixer" styled controller? That seemed pretty neat also.

Re the Numark D2 thingie... wonder how stable the thing is? As I don't forsee it taking over the world, it could end up as a great concept that had a few critical bugs that were never sorted, leaving it pointless. I do think the idea is tops though, and well priced.
