In the DJForums.. and TSWDNSO ... there are a lot of threads relating to the MPC.. and its sound..sampling..sequencing capabilities... we all know its not a toy... its serious business..
But what about the others like the MV8800? on EDM type forums i dont hear MUCH mention of them, beside the odd "IT SHITS ON THE MPC" post or thread..
Is the MPC just a fashion trend? or does it have something extra over the competition ie. the MV8800
On paper the MV8800 looks like a machine killer product...
But what makes the MPC more popular?

Oh dear.
Is the MPC a fashion trend? To even ask such a question reveals the dire need of a major history lesson. MPCs are one of the longest running legacies in electronic music production. They are the best at what they do bar none and for all the copies and also-rans none have come close to even touching on the myth, the legend, nor the status of the originals.
You don't hear many hip hop legends a la Dr Dre waxing lyrical how they couldn't be where they are without their MV8000 no-sir-eeee-bob.
I'm not going to serve it cos it just goes forever.
MV8000 is a great knockoff product with a lot of features on the MPC. BUT it's not, nor will it ever be, an MPC.
