Guys
When setting up a new midi device, is anyone aware of a way to create a full bank of 127 presets with the same MSB/LSB values with out having to go in 4x127 times and enter each value individually? :bang:

Ok dudes, apologies for my early Sunday morning tardness but I sussed this out, and for anyone who wants to know this may be helpfull.
When setting up a midi device with additonal banks assigned to one channel you assign multiple presets being 'program change 0-127' and then Ranges of MSB in this case MSB:067 and Range set to relative bank LSB number this being 0
This then creates a whole bank of unamed presets 0-127 but if you have more banks you keep the 'in this case' MSB:067 and change the range of LSB: to 0 for bank 0 and 1 for bank 1 and so forth.
You should probly export and save these settings as they don't seem to automatically come accross to a new Cubase project. But at the end of the day Streaky can sit there and scroll through additional presets with his scrolly mouse and we can all live happily ever after

...I see, cool, you're on to it some more.
Now when you say "Streaky can sit there and scroll through additional presets with his scrolly mouse and we can all live happily ever after", are you scrolling generic numbers between 0 and 127 or actual patch names?
I can easily rip out the Beat Garden patch names from the Orbit 3 (w/ beat garden & TeCnO ROMs) midnam patch name file from http://www.digicake.com/midnam/ and send 'em to you. And I have the XL-1 names too if you need 'em. Sorry, if I misunderstood and you have the actual patch names rigged up in Cubase already.
Hold a sec, that answers my previous question re what was E-mu's double ROM 64MB module, it was the Oribit 3!

I really should do some real work now...

Umm I only get preset 0-127. No names. But hey the sounds are there and I can just look at the front panel and see what the preset is. Unless theres some way to import all preset names aswell into the preset banks, I think i'd have to sit there and manually type all the names in 4x127........which isnt gonna happen.
If you ever find any blank 32mb e-mu roms I'll be able to author a beat garden for you, as I can do it with the xl1-t. But from what I hear the blank roms are neally as expensive as the pre loaded roms.

How's that for a good use of bandwidth?! Now you got to just find out how to copy 'em straight into Cubase - bank by bank - rather than patch by patch. There must be a way.

Dude - have you googled? You're not the only one on earth using Cubase and that synth... so maybe someone else has done it for you already, or has a midi sysex file for you to load. I know that's the case with the AN1x... i've just never used it. There's also a part in cubase where you can 'setup' different synths. I don't remeber what it's called, but i think it sets all the CC stuff up for that model and brand of synth, if you can find the file.
I'd have a quick flick through Cubase and tell you exactly what it's called... but i just finished packing up the studio (again) in preperation for a move to my new house
I don't move for a couple of weeks... but i fly to Singapore and then Malaysia today with work... back for a week... move... fly out of the state and then country. Not that i'm boasting ;D

What does Cubase call its "patch name" files?
If I can, I'll start with someone's premade file, or whip up my own. Invariably there are typos on the d/l versions. Good starting point though.

Haha.. Good luck with the move. Always good once it's done, just a PITA in the meantime.
We'll be free in Melbourne from Thursday 19th April. Can't remember when your commitments are. Looking foward to catching up whenever. Victoria Bitter all round! Ahem....

I've been up since 3:27am this morning handtyping those gazillion patches. ;D
You should have just gotten up earlier.

Ok here is an explanation of sorts of how to do it with Cubase, they're called 'patch scripts'

Well, editing one of these raw 'patch scripts' would be a royal pain in the ass.
Look further for a 'patch script editor' (or surely Cubase can do it natively?) that you can drag'n'drop those patch name lists straight into.
With those lists as they are, it'd take less than 3 mins to generate the appropriate midnam file for Pro Tools.
There must be a just-as-easy (if not easier) system for Cubase. Again, I'd be very suprised that if Cubase won't let you do if from right within the program. The fact that Pro Tools relies on a Mac-only third-party app is one of the main factors (I thought) that sets it behind the 'real' MIDI sequencers.

From what I can see 'In The FM' of my SE (special tardo edition) 1.07 theres no patch script editor. It assumes your only upgrading 10x patches etc so you only have to rename 10x patches etc not 4 banks of 127.
Anyways its no biggy, Ive managed to write some stuff thats the most lowdown fattest house bass/beats I've ever done today.

Hey, just checking in whether you had any more success with patch names in Cubase? I'd completely forgotten that the CherryPicker app (that I use for Pro Tools' patch names creating/editing) can also spit out Cubase formatted files. It'd take literally 2 mins to export a version for you, assuming that's all there is to it. Worth a try. You just need to know where to put the file on your system.
EDIT: Just read your 'tardo edition' comment... does that mean it doesn't support any pre-made patch scripts?

No it doesn't seem to have any patch script support, only if you type them in manual......and as you've probly already guessed 'I CBF'D
Its cool though I have the xl1t very close and I just switch ch to see what patch is on the front panel.
PS. BG rom has about 100 arps and has given me a shitload of new drums to play with. Totally getting into arps over drum kits. Thankyou very much for hookin me up I owe you one big time

Hi
I was wondering about this. I made my own Patchname Script file for my Yammie VL70m ages ago and then found a Device panel on the net somewhere that works nicely as an editor (with a few minor modifications by me) and ideally I would like to be able to combine them both in one file but you can't cut and paste from one to another as far as I can see and I really can't face entering all the patchnames again one by one.
