It is with a deeply saddened heart I announce the passing this week of Anthony Cameron, aka Sound Punk member Sink-of-sin-inc :P

Anthony was student of mine in 2007 and 2008. He was easily one of my best 'A' students - a quiet achiever who didn't say much but he was extremely creative, articulate, eloquent, an excellent writer, deep thinker and a true lover of electronic music - especially noisy, twisted, distorted music.His persona was quite the opposite - quiet, warm and friendly to those who knew him.

Here at SP he made over 100 posts including numerous tracks in User Track Reviews - worth looking up and checking out.

Anthony was the unfortunate victim of cancer, and leaves us in his late 20's. A clean-living guy, he was just unlucky.

In his memory I've added his last two tracks from this year under his producer name 'Synth Infected Noise'.

Corny as it sounds, the music lives on...

"Aural Deritus" - his second last track, 6 months ago

Fark. That's shit. :P

I hope he was happy with his life. Just so damn little of it. Seems freakin' totally unreasonable.

He was certainly a great contributor around here and made some cool tunes.

Condolences to his family and loved ones. I can only imagine the pain.

This is devastating, Rob. Anthony was a highly intelligent and talented man, always friendly and considerate to those around him. I enjoyed my time studying with him very much and I always appreciated his unique sense of humour and his great taste in music. He had a knack for thinking outside the square. He did not deserve to be taken so young. I will miss him and his manic alter-ego Sancho. I remember a radio play he did back in our second year of study where he created Sancho & his famous Lovenuts. It was hilarious and perfectly produced. It always brought a smile to my face and i wish i could listen to it again.

RIP Anthony, you will be sorely missed :P

Crap, so sad. :P

I trust Anthony's family, friends and colleagues find the support they need through this painful time, and as many as possible were able to say their goodbyes in the final months/days. How are you hanging in there, Rob? My thoughts are with you from over here.

Sinik-of-sin-inc - awesome username - farewell mate, and may we all get to meet up on the other side, free of our physical beings that let us down at the best of times. May you finally be at peace from what I can only imagine to have been a mighty hard slog.

Thanking you for the short time we had with you, and the musical legacies you have left. :D

Thanks for your kind thoughts everyone, will pass them on to the family if I get a chance.

Thanks also for your thoughts for me, all good :P I'm a little strange in I believe when artists pass on they leave behind a legacy and energy in their creative work that gives them a degree of immortality. He's still with us :D

When a musician I know passes away, I have a poem by 19th C English poet Robert Browning I feel compelled to quote. A little tradition I started with the death of my musician grandfather a few years ago:

TOUCH HIM NE’ER SO LIGHTLY

Robert Browning

Why rushed the discords in, but that harmony should be prized?
Sorrow is hard to bear, and doubt is slow to clear,
Each sufferer says his say, his scheme of weal and woe:
But God has a few of us whom he whispers in the ear;
The rest may reason and welcome; ‘tis we musicians know.

Well, it is earth with me; silence resumes her reign:
I will be patient and proud, and soberly acquiesce.
Give me the keys. I feel for the common chord again,
Sliding by semitones, till I sink to the minor, - yes,
And I blunt it into a ninth, and I stand on alien ground,
Surveying while the heights I rolled from into the deep;
Which, hark, I have dared and done, for my resting-place is found,
The C Major of this life: so, now I will try to sleep.

Oh my what a sad story. What a loss, he was one of the key contributors in my view of Soundpunk and his contributions in track reviews were always a gas.

Heart goes out to his family and friends, and as RB says, his legacy will live on in his creative work. B)
