Title: Nookie Remix

Artist: Cheyne Wallace

Description: Its been a while since iv written some tunes, but iv finally gotten around to finishing off some work, its not as big as my previous tracks, but I guess thats why I was able to finish it off.
This is a short edit for demo purposes, Iv also only listened to it on cans (apartment living keeps the monitors on retirement) so any mixing feedback would be welcome.
Very minimal mastering, (it shows) just a few touches in Audacity to remove the headroom.

Let me know what you think

diggin the beat mate - listening on the lappy so not gettin a lot of the bottom end coming thru, but its kinda there and i'm liking it!

There's a synth line that could come up a bit a little, otherwise it's sounding pretty schmick

ooooooer, breakdown bass/synth is da bomb! Wassit? Sounds like a Virus maybe? its huuuuge!

dude, I'd play this if ya shot me a full length hi-res when ya done :)

Thanks for the feedback mate, glad you liked it :)

Yea, im torn on the bassline, on some systems it sounds great, on others its too quiet. Either way it needs some bass response to get the right effect.

Yea, it was done using a Virus TI Desktop. Id be happy to do a re-work of it, with a longer intro if you wanted to play it, I don't DJ really any more so id get a kick knowing someone else is ;) let me know what you'd like changed and ill see what I can do.

Cheers :D

Solid, Cheyne, solid!

Tidy transitions with interesting sweeping bits and pieces, love those vox effects circa 1:28 mark, very Infusion-esque, breaks are all tight, again with some interesting variations.

That loop panned-left (comes in at 0:35) is a touch distracting for me, feels kinda unbalanced (but that might be more the headphones listen). How might it sound duplicated to the right, then delayed a fraction to push it out W-I-D-E on both sides? Might then dampen the other wide effects though?

Lovin' that phasey-synth-line riff too, suits perfectly against the drums.

Gets a little loopy towards the end, but I acknowledge that its a work in progress (and DJ would be mixing in the next track, blah blah blah...)

All up, a very slick sounding track I reckon. I'm gonna miss Breakfest @ Belvoir Amphitheatre, Swan Valley (Perth) this year, but with this perfect mix of oldskool rap against futuresque sounds, I reckon this track would suit the post sunset hours superbly. :)

Thanks Spec,

Yea, I know the panning is a little harsh on the loop, I still want to fix that, its a lot more noticeable listening through headphones.

Iv had a few people comment on the track from facebook and its inspired me to fix it up a bit.

Ill post back with any updates :)

I'll back what the others have said - this is pretty awesome. But the hard-left panned bassline loop/sample is really distracting, at least through my headphones. I'd try and put that more in the middle for maximum effect.
