Hi sound punks,
I come to you for help on bended knee, I'm an FCP editor but not a total noob to audio, I had an x-station 25 for a couple of years, logic and reason, but over the last couple of years I've been working in FCP edit houses. I've got an mbox which I want to use as a sound card, just for monitoring and recording the occasional guide VO. I've downloaded PACE, Rosetta and the standalone digi-design drivers, but I can't get the mbox into my audio prefs to use as my system output, very perturbing...
What's more, in Final Cut, I CAN select the Mbox for audio in and out, so the Mac knows it's there, AND is using the hardware, but I can only use it with FCP and not for system output, itunes etc. :bang: I've read around and I understand that DD aren't supporting mbox 1 anymore, but if FCP can see it as an interface there must be a work around to utilize the sound card... If I could get any help it would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!
24" iMac (2008) os x 10.6.2, Final Cut Studio 3, mbox 1
Mbox (I/foucusrite) support needed! Use as system out on os x 10.6

Has digi released core audio drivers for 10.6.2? if it's unsupported then i guess not ... does it show up in audio/midi preferences ?

Thanks for the reply!
It doesn't show up in audi/midi preferences, it shows up in system profiler though. I used the drivers for mbox 2, "for users who don't own/run PT". I'm just hoping there is a hack to utilise the mbox soundcard for system out. As Final cut pro can find and use it, it does intrinsically 'work'.

The MBox driver isn't in the 8.0.3 Standalone Core Audio Driver installer. Im interested why it works in FCP! Does FCP have an audio interface preference page where you need to select the MBox? Sorry im not familiar with it. If so, what does the selection for the MBox say exactly?
As far as im aware there is no way to use the Core Audio Driver with the original MBox on Snow Leopard.
For the record...

It is a bit crazy! I used the 8.0.3 CORE audio driver at work with the mbox, it worked fine despite saying there was no support for mbox. As far as testing is concerned, I never tried using the mbox in FCP without the drivers installed - I guess it's possible it would have worked. I've done some screen grabs from FCP so you can see what's happening, 1-3 are the process for output, 4 list the mbox as an in for the VO tool.

the mbox shows up as:
'digidesign HW (mbox)'
